Born into a completely non-magical family, Marlow grew up in a completely normal household with nothing exciting happening. Her parents were I incredibly normal, a dual-income family with only one child. Suffice to say, her life did not deviate from the norm for a very long time. From her birth, things went smoothly – she reached all her developmental milestones at exactly the age she was supposed to, went to school at the right time for a child, and received average grades in every subject. Marlow Warren was not remarkable.
And then she hit puberty. For most kids that means hormones, acne, becoming more adult. Marlow had all of that, that was not the problem. The problem was the uncontrollable shifting. At that time, Marlow's abilities started with the shifting of her own features – hair color, eye color, hair length. Nothing too noticeable and Marlow made sure that these things went unnoticed. Even her own parents were left in the dark. As she matured, her powers matured too – no longer did the shifting happen without her will and she discovered her ability to shift into animals. The detrimental side of her power was also discovered at this time, the shifting left her feeling mentally foggy and directly afterwards her ability to think and make rational decisions was greatly impaired. A migraine headache occurred with this lack of focus.
With the discovery of her powers, Marlow began to delve into what might have occurred. Her parents insisted that they had no magical beings in their families, so she deduced that her powers came from some sort of mutation. Marlow started to actually put effort in her studies at this point, becoming obsessed with why it happened to her. After meeting up with a witch, Marlow became introduced to the magical world, though she felt a disconnect with it all. After graduating high school, Marlow went and received her degree in Biology and then was accepted to Tulane University in their PhD program. At the moment, she works as a TA.
