Outfit: A white T-shirt (with stains of assorted colors on it) and jeans that look like they haven't been changed in a few days. Tagged: Open
He felt like he spent half of the month making Wolfsbane potions... which he did, almost literally in fact. There was no reason behind him choosing this potion recipe other than it being dependable, and that was a good claim to werewolf packs not willing to find somewhere that could hold them during a transformation, and so every month he spent half of it preparing.
All in all the potion was a pain in the ass, and he was glad that he was now to the easy part. For the remainder week and a half that the potion would take, he'd only have to stir it occasionally and add in a certain amount of Wolfsbane at certain intervals of time. Which meant it wouldn't be worth going home, since by the time he got there he'd have to head right back. There was a reason he kept a air mattress at his market stall -- one of the lucky few with a room behind it, which he utilized for making and storing things.
Sebastian had just got done with adding another bunch of Wolfbane, and now he had a few hours to kill. He had decided to spend it behind the wooden counter to the stall, lounging in a chair with a heavy tome in his lap, idly flipping through the pages and more or less pretending that he's reading them whilst ignoring the sounds of some fae musicians nearby. He thought about slipping away to see them, but decided against it; there weren't many times that people came by the stall, but he liked for someone to be there at all times in case someone did. His turn today, it seemed like; he hadn't seen his apprentice, but then again he'd told them to enjoy some time off, given that making Wolfsbane potions was annoying and just outside their skill level.
Hence the flipping through the book.

S leeping as a dog had its upsides. Fitting almost anywhere, fur that helped to keep the body warm, being able to fall asleep relatively quickly; for Marlow Warren, the benefits of sleeping as a dog far outweighed the detriments. Of course, the detrimental effects of shifting were still there and being shifted all night seemed to amplify the effect – although that was not entirely unexpected. The flip side of the issue was the incessant insomnia that plagued Marlow as a human. Dogs, and Marlow's mentality as a dog, were simpler than those of Marlow the human. Marlow the human often sat awake mentally going over research and her thesis, which revolved on what made magical beings magical, whilst Marlow the dog would fall into a slumber with no effort. This led to an overall well-rested person when she awoke in the morning. The downside to this was what Marlow had dubbed 'the hangover effect,' in which Marlow had a migrane and her thoughts were murky. As any scientist would, Marlow had thought about this problem a lot. Clearly, the migraines were caused by the act of shifting and Marlow guessed that there had to be some solution to the problem. Of course, Marlow did not really have any ties to the magical world. Rumors led her to this place, a market full of stalls that seemed to all sell magical objects. The market was overwhelming, as Marlow really only had the experience of seeing a witch before, and the market had a more... diverse population. Fae musicians played music nearby, reminding Marlow of the migraine she was currently experiencing but she figured that there had to be someone who knew more about this issue then she did. Wandering a bit further through the market, Marlow spotted a stall she assumed could be helpful for her. A potions stall, which Marlow guessed might carry some kind of potion to either dull or remove the effects of shifting, with a man sitting there. Reading something. And now I'll have to interrupt him, she thought to herself as she made her way to that stall. ”Excuse me,” Marlow said, softly as her own voice hurt her head, ”I'm having an issue that I hope you can help me with.”

Tagged: Marlow WarrenOf all the days to get a walk-in customer. Sebastian closed the book carefully -- it was old, after all, and the last thing he wanted to do was help age do its job -- and placed it on the counter, straightening his clothes to try to make himself look presentable and offering a hand. He tried to ignore the fact said hand had a purple stain on it -- the wolfsband flower, most presumably, as it had a tendency to do that when used in magical concoctions -- and hoped she wouldn't think anything of it. But based on how uncomfortable she looked, he didn't know just how used to this entire magic thing she was. He gave a tentative smile. "Um, ignore my appearance. I'm working on wolfband, and -- Nevermind that. How can I help you?"

L uckily her voice, although soft, had carried enough so that the man heard her. Marlow found it humorous that he adjusted himself to look better, as she assumed that she looked like shit. Well, she felt like shit anyway. Briefly, she looked at him, trying to figure out what he was. With the magical world, Marlow held a certain distrust simply because it was largely unknown to people like her. Or shifters like her, she sometimes felt that her ability made her less human. He extended a hand, with purple on it, and she shifted a bit uncomfortably. What the hell is that, the thought crossed Marlow's mind before she could suppress the initial shock. As a scientist, the fear of this unknown bothered her. I should be more openminded, after all he may be my only help here. The explanation of the purple stain, although what the hell was wolfsband, seemed to put her a bit more at ease and Marlow shook his hand. At this, he smiled and Marlow attempted a smile back, though she suspected it did not look very genuine. His voice hurt too, though the market's general atmosphere had also increased the intensity of her migraine, and she hoped she didn't flinch when he spoke. ”Ah, I'm a... shifter, I guess?” The inflection of her voice indicated a question, though her intentions has been to seem more confident. ”At least, that's what the witch told me. Anyway, the shifting leaves me with horrible migraines and this general mental fog. I don't know much about all this,” Marlow's hand swept over the market, clearly showing that by this she meant the whole magic thing,” but I was hoping there's some sort of cure or suppressant or anything.”

Tagged: Marlow WarrenShe... guesses. Certain now that she, indeed, didn't know much about the world to which she belonged, though there wasn't really much he could do about that except try to point her in the direction of others of her kind. Which she wasn't asking for, really, and he wouldn't unless she asked, since he really didn't want to involve himself in affairs he didn't really need to be involved with. Still, Sebastian couldn't help but want to help her with more than migraines. And then he realized she was talking somewhat softly, and he more or less put the pieces together. He lifted one of the wooden pieces of the counter up. "If you'd come back with me, I'm sure I can see if I have anything. And if I can't, I can certainly brew you something." And then his lips twitched into something of a wry smile. "And it's usually not as loud in the back."

A s he lifted the counter up, Marlow wondered if the whole 'stranger danger' idea existed in the magical world. For her, it seemed even more suspect, though she figured the problem would not get better without someone else's help. After all, Marlow had confessed that she really had no idea what she was doing. Which, when she thought about it, was really bothersome as Marlow had chosen a world where there was always a control group. Science remained something to cling to, even with her own magical and unexplainable self. Of course, who would honestly admit being magical to a non-magical family?, it was a question that Marlow often asked herself and she had yet to figure out the answer. When he mentioned that it was not as loud in the back, Marlow decided that she would ignore the indoctrination of her youth. Worst that could happen would probably confuse her anyway. Besides, the guy seemed nice, despite her nerves. ”Yeah, I could use a break from all the noise. Really all I had heard were rumors that this place existed, I was not sure what to expect,” here eyes swept across the marketplace one last time, ”It's a bit too lively for me right now. But I've been sleeping shifted lately, being a dog makes my thoughts slow down. Dogs don't care about their thesis or that class on genetics they have to teach.” Nerves caused her to babble, though she consciously was trying to shut up. In an attempt to stop talking so much, because he probably did not care about her life, she decided to introduce herself and get his name in the process. ”I'm Marlow. It's nice to meet you...?

Tagged: Marlow WarrenOOC: So sorry for not replying before now. I've been feeling a bit under the weather. "Sebastian Morgan," he replied, cheerfully, and he figured that if she hadn't heard of him yet, she probably would soon if she decided to continue frequenting places such as this. He moved the piece of wood so that he didn't have to hold it and motioned for her to follow him as he went into the back room. It was dark, but he quickly rectified that with a magelight, and he made sure the brewing wolfbane potion wasn't doing anything strange -- it wasn't -- before putting a large wooden spoon in it and charming it to continue stirring the cauldron. Which would all appear strange to her, he realized, she he sent her a sheepish smile. "This shouldn't take long, but you can sit there if you want," he told her, pointing to a chair in the room, and he went along to the shelves on the wall. His method of checking bottles was interesting, since he only checked certain ones, and occasionally he'd place one of them on a small table. "Do you mind describing what it feels like to transform?"
